Amelie on high application numbers and reduced intake targetsAmelie Eriksson Karlström, Head of School at CBH, reports continued strong interest in the school’s courses and a high number of applications for most of CBH’s programmes. At the same time, KTH’s schools have decided to reduce the number of new students on several programmes. Read Amelie's text | Can bioplastics and wood replace plastic? Listen to Professor Eva Malmström on Om Vetenskap Humankind has become dependent on plastic – a material with unique properties. At the same time, littering and the spread of microplastics have become an ever-growing problem. Can plastic be replaced with another material, and how much better is plastic produced from biomaterials compared to that made from fossil raw materials? Participants: Eva Malmström, Professor of Surface Treatment Technology at KTH, Emma Strömberg, Associate Professor and researcher in polymer materials at the Swedish Environmental Research Institute (IVL), and Maria Gunther, science editor at Dagens Nyheter.

Project
update: Neighborhood-based supportA project is underway to develop a proposal for organising support for facilities, security, and related services in a more neighbourhood-based structure at KTH. The aim is also to clarify and coordinate other day-to-day services, making them easier to use and more consistent across KTH.
By 30 June, the project will give a proposal for further review before a decision is made. About

MFA will
become mandatory for students on September 1, 2026
MFA (multi-factor authentication) remains the single most important security measure to protect KTH’s IT systems against various types of attacks or intrusions. KTH is now taking the next step by introducing MFA for all students starting September 1, 2026.
Information
to new and current students will be sent at the end of week 23. When selecting
the date for mandatory MFA, consideration was given to programme students’ course
registration period, which closes on August 31.
During this
past spring, the Examination Administration has tested procedures for exams in
computer labs and will provide additional staffing during the digital
examinations in the autumn.
