At KTH, research is being conducted on everything from how the hardware itself should be built to what problems a quantum computer can actually solve.
“Quantum technology may affect all parts of society that are dependent on information. Directly or indirectly, the technology can affect virtually everything," says David Haviland, professor of nanostructure physics at KTH.
How will quantum technology affect society? What are the challenges and potential innovations? A series of articles takes a closer look at the quantum world and reports on all the exciting research being conducted at KTH. Read more | | |
Highlights from the SCI Faculty Board meeting – 25 August 2025
At the latest Faculty Board meeting, members discussed several important topics for the school’s education and quality development.
-
Programme updates for autumn 2026. The Board approved revised syllabi for a number of programmes starting in HT2026. The changes ensure that course content and structures remain aligned with current needs, while other programmes continue as before.
-
Preparing for external programme review. Following KTH’s quality assurance guidelines, an external review will be carried out instead of the usual follow-up in HT2026. A working group, led by Gunnar Tibert, will organise the process to make sure it supports ongoing development initiatives.
-
Upcoming quality dialogues. This autumn, departments will submit self-evaluations, which will serve as the basis for quality dialogues between the Faculty Board and the departments. The Board will then prepare a consolidated quality report, due in mid-October, that highlights key priorities for the school.
-
New substitute Board member. Karl Garme will temporarily replace Outi Tammisola during her leave of absence.
