Doctoral students at the ITM School now receive a joint introduction to life as a doctoral researcher. The course, which runs for the fifth time this autumn, strengthens both confidence and community – and gives students the courage to ask the difficult questions.

As exhaust emissions from vehicles have decreased, non-exhaust emissions such as brake wear have become an increasingly important source of particulate pollution. A new study involving Ulf Olsson (Engineering Design) shows that "environment friendly" pads emit high levels of gases.

The Faculty
Board ITM will develop an action plan for broadened recruitment and
participation, which will be ready on 14 December. A working group has been
formed to carry out the work, and at this school meeting they want to gather your
perspectives on how ITM already works — and how we can work in the
future — within the area.
