Pär Olsson appointed Knight of the Order of Academic Palms
Professor Pär Olsson has been appointed Knight of the prestigious French order of merit, the Order of Academic Palms (Ordre des Palmes Académiques). This distinction, confirmed by a decision of the Prime Minister of the Republic of France, recognizes his personal commitment and numerous contributions to French culture and the strengthening of French-Swedish scientific and academic cooperation.
"Receiving such recognition is a huge honour and feels fantastic. I have always been driven by working with things that are fun, interesting, and meaningful to society. The fact that this has been noticed and recognised in this way by such an important and central player in the nuclear energy field feels surreal," says Pär.

The technology that shapes our values
Design influences us more than we realise – it shapes our habits and determines who fits in. With a norm-critical approach, researcher and industrial designer Karin Ehrnberger demonstrates how form reveals hidden values and unlocks technology that works for more people. “Design is not just about aesthetics or solutions to practical problems. It is a powerful tool for shaping what people think, feel and do,” says Karin Ehrnberger.

station – a question of fairness
The feeling of safety at Swedish railway stations varies significantly between different groups. Women, LGBTQI people and people with disabilities more often feel unsafe in station environments, which means that public transport is not equally accessible to everyone. “It becomes a question of equality” | | Turning deepfake porn into
a design challenge
It takes one photo and five minutes, and your face could appear in a fake porn video. KTH researchers Madeline Balaam and Alejandra Gómez Ortega are investigating how generative AI fuels this form of abuse, and how interaction design might offer a way to fight back. “We’re

Dani Zuhair, affiliated with the Division of Light and Matter Physics at KTH, has been awarded first prize and an honorary distinction at the prestigious EU Contest for Young Scientists (EUCYS), held this year in Riga, Latvia. The competition gathered approximately 150 young researchers aged 14-20 from 40 countries, and projects are evaluated based on originality, presentation, and creativity. His winning project explores quantum magnetic structures to advance a new research field called spintronics, which uses the “spin” of electrons to store and process information.
